Smita Shah founded SPAAN Technology, Inc. in 1998 and is currently serving as the president and CEO. The company has around 50 employees. Shah has earned great success through education and her working career. She currently lives in Chicago, Illinois and has servee as Vice Chairman of the Chicago Plan Commission from 2007. Previously she was the Structural Engineer for SOM from November 1996 to 1997. Smita Shah is licensed in multiple states and has a vast education. She has attended Northwestern University, MIT, and Oxford University. The start of her education began in 1991 at Northwest University wherein 1994 she earned a Bachelors in Science, Civil Engineering. 1994 to 1996 Smita attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology earning a master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. During the years 2005 to 2007, she attended the Said Business School, at the University of Oxford obtaining a Certificate in Management Studies. The success at school and in her business life Smita Shah has obtained many awards and recognitions. One acknowledgment that she obtained is number 19 on Crain’s Chicago Business Most Connected. An Additional honor that was achieved is Young Civil Engineer of the Year Award. The ACEC National Community Service Award is a further accolade that has been achieved. Smita Shah has found many achievements and accomplishment through her profession helping to make her the success she is today.
