How did Sheldon find his way to the food industry?
Sheldon Lavin landed in the meat industry in the year 1970. He first met the Otto & sons management team while he was providing his financial solutions to the company. The company was securing funding to enable it to build a meat processing plant in the Midwest. The bank requested Sheldon to acquire an ownership position in Otto& sons, but he declined since that was not in line with his consulting services. However, Sheldon agreed to be the company’s consultant. While delivering services to the food business, Sheldon grew his relationship with Otto& sons.
After some years, Sheldon Lavin became more involved in the management of the facility. He went on to become a partner and later joined the business fulltime. Lavin is associated with the growth of the company. When he came on board, the company formulated strategies to expand the business to foreign countries. The initial stages of the strategy started with expansion in North America and Europe. The firm continued expanding in South America and entered the Taiwan market. In the 1990s Sheldon acquired half of the controlling rights. He later gained 100% controlling rights and submerged himself fully in the management of the facility.
